   Xylooligosaccharides are composed by chains of d-xylose residues, linked through β(1 → 4)-xylosidic bonds, with 2> DP > 10. They are naturally present in bamboo shoots, fruits, and vegetables. Lignocellulosic materials (e.g., corncob) are xylan-rich products that can be used for XOS production. The process is usually carried out in two stages: firstly xylan is extracted from the biomass with pretreatments (hydrothermal pretreatments), and secondly, xylan is enzymatically hydrolyzed.
